Windows 8 Supported Installer Released

This is a bit over due, I’ve worked with someone over he past couple months to figure out how to do a signed driver and package this into the installer.

Done, finally. No more hack needed to install the driver. No need to turn off allowing the installation of unsigned drivers.

The old 0.96 installer has been updated with the new installer that will work on Windows 8.

Thanks for the patience.

Jason, the link doesn’t seem to be working.

Sorry Jason, still doesn’t seem to work. It comes with a new web page saying “This webpage is not available. The connection to downloads.flirc.tv was interrupted”.

The other download links on that page still work fine.

    0.96? It’s working for me… http://downloads.flirc.tv/windows/Flirc.exe

So strange. Thanks mike for letting me know. I just changed some permissions around, let me know if it’s any better.

No, still not working. If I go directly to http://downloads.flirc.tv/windows/ I can see all the files, but when I select either flirc.exe or flirc.0.96.exe nothing happens. I’ve tried using FlashGet download manager, but it gets stuck at 98% downloaded. Strange indeed.

Jason, I managed to download the file by turning off my virus protection software. Strange that it wouldn’t let me download that file, but I could download earlier versions of flirc.

Hi Jason, I also tried to download the flirc.exe or flirc.0.96.exe, but every time I tried my virus protection software (avast 8) blocked the connection, because the file is being identified as a virus. This doesn’t happen when downloading any of the earlier versions.
I was able to download the file with deactivated virus protection and checked it through virustotal online scan. You can see the results here:

the new file it’s infected with some kind virus, that’s why ours antivirus are giving the alarms,

Doesn’t make sense. It’s a false positive. This is different from the past versions because I’m using a new build system and making everything on my mac. The virus scanner just says suspicious, it must be using a windows development kit library that looks like something.
